BMW M2 M3 M4 G8X Drive shaft CV Boot Heat Shield Protector | XC3 Engineering
When an aftermarket exhaust is fitted to a BMW G8X M2, M3 or M4, exhaust temperatures can increase versus the factory system. In many cases, exhaust routing and clearances can also place the system closer to the inner driveshaft CV boots.
Track driving can make this worse, as sustained high load, repeated heat cycles, and prolonged exhaust temperatures increase thermal stress in the surrounding area. This added heat exposure can cause the inner CV boots to degrade, soften, or melt over time, increasing the risk of grease loss, contamination, and eventual CV joint issues.
BMW’s solution is to install CS driveshafts, but this can be a high-cost upgrade.
XC3 Engineering Driveshaft CV Boot Heat Shield Protectors are designed to provide a more cost-effective solution by placing a barrier between the exhaust and the CV boot area.
By reducing direct radiant heat reaching the boot, these protectors help lower CV boot temperatures and reduce the likelihood of heat-related failure.
Each protector is finished with a thermal coating for improved heat resistance and added protection in high-temperature environments. This makes them especially well suited to modified road cars and track-focused builds where exhaust temperatures and sustained heat loads are higher than standard.
